Michael Jackson R.I.P.

I woke up the other morning to hear of the demise on Michael Jackson. A sad day for all indeed. An often misunderstood soul who never meant any harm to anyone.

Having a musical background as I did one could not helped but be influenced by MJ. His talent and magnetism reached across all boundaries. I remember watching the Thriller video and being speechless. It surpassed anything ever done to that point. A breathtaking performance to say the least.

One can only imagine living life under a microscope as he did. Few have garnered the attention he received. Brings to mind the tragic death of Elvis who shared the same scrutiny 24 X 7. It has to wear on ones soul to never have a moment where someone is not watching and looking to capitalize of your every move.

It seems that in the last few years MJ had become somewhat withdrawn. Who could blame him for trying to escape the daily grind of the tabloid world? Ironically MJ was preparing for a comeback. Tickets sold out in mere minutes and the buzz was all over the airwaves. The anticipation of the return of “The Gloved One” sent all into frenzy.

It seems there are not many things to look forward to these days. Everywhere you look you see nothing but trouble. The economy looks bleak at best. World peace is being challenged by various maniacs around the globe. It is very hard to think of anything positive with the current surroundings.

But people like MJ made life a little bit better. He got you tapping you foot and singing along to the lyrics. If the truth be known how many of us have attempted the moon walk in the mirror when no one was looking. Come on…tell the truth. Watching him sing and dance made everything OK for that brief moment. That can not be taken away by anyone.

Thank you Michael for all of the moments of joy you have brought to the masses. You will not be forgotten.
