The way I see it today’s politician is the lowest form of life. “By The People For The People” is just a dream in today’s society. The mere concept of a lifetime politician breeds contempt. Those of the “Golden Spoon” trying to relate to us regular folk and deciding what is good for this country.
I am neither Democrat or Republican. Although I do tend to lean a bit right as I do have a brain. The entitlement mindset of the left will have us all wearing Kimono’s and picking rice before long. Come on, how long can we continue to run the deficit up to levels that soon numbers will be unable to track. (At least the common man will be unable to pronounce the number). Common sense dictates this must stop.
But the division in this country is at an all time high. The airwaves are packed with people touting the right vs. the left. The country and our well being are secondary at best. And “We The People” are a thing of the past. Come on people…Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid…These people have never done or accomplished anything in their entire miserable lives. Had John McCain won then at least we would have had a leader with real world experience. But McCain is not a politician. He has integrity. He is an honest soldier who fought for his country. Barack Obama hates America and what it stands for. Apologizing to the world and kissing the world’s ass.
We need a leader who has met a payroll. A leader who has been through the trials and tribulations of making things work. Not someone who consistently blames George Bush and Fox news for his daily blunders. Allan Grayson calling Republicans “The Enemy”…This stupid bastard should be taken to prison to meet Bubba. The level of corruption in Washington is beyond the scope of most Americans. Or the world for that matter. It may be worse (and I think it is elsewhere), but I live in America and I am pissed off.
They all spend 95+% of their time blaming the other side for what they all created. Republicans and Democrats. They all suck. Let them step out in the real world where what they do has an effect on how they are treated. They spend their entire efforts on getting re-elected. And it is on our dime. How often does a politician lie…only when their lips move.
Now comes health care. Oh My God. This scares anyone with a brain. Washington stuffed shirts deciding our fate when it comes to our medical choices. As of late it seems that Congress will be exempt from the plan put fourth for the masses. What’s up with that.
Whether you are Liberal or Conservative or somewhere in between if you can stomach this you either don’t care or don’t understand or your stupid. The self serving politicians are about to take one more step toward creating a permanent underclass that depends on them for their very existence. Step up to the trough…it’s feeding time. The Government tit is waiting.

The current state of the economy has got everyone wondering what will happen next. Business’s closing, plant shutdowns, massive layoffs are but a few of what seems to be a daily occurrence as of late.
Once thriving industries have been forced to adopt a completely new business model to ensure survival in this today’s ever changing world. Being from a Midwest General Motors town, few places have been hit harder than here.
This in no way is intended to open an economic debate as to how and why this downturn has taken us to lows not experienced since the Great Depression. Nor is it intended to be a political finger pointing session either.
My intent is to discuss the effects of this situation on our mental well being. The constant thought of the stability of our future weighs heavily on anyone’s mind. Not knowing if you will have a means to support yourself and your family is not a pleasant thought. It leaves us searching for a solution that at times seems unattainable.
We all have different methods of handling the pressure incurred during this dilemma. Hopefully those methods will be positive ones, but unfortunately that is not always the case. Those methods may include religion, friends and family. In times of trouble the age old approach of “Circling the Wagons” seems to be an effective answer. Friends and family band together to take the issue head on. All working together with a common goal.
Also it has been my experience that discussing this matter with those in a like situation helps in a big way. Sharing thoughts and tips on the various aspects of a downturn help all involved. Therefore if you have any tips or advice on these matters please share with all.

Do you ever feel that life is completely out of control? All of our lives are full of obstacles and problems that at times seem like a mountain that is much too tall to climb. Our professional life, our family life, the current economy and various other things that are not always in our control, all contribute to this dilemma.
The first step to regain control is to admit to ourselves that we have, in fact, lost control. Then we try and identify when and where we lost control. At this point we must agree to release the baggage we have gathered through the years and redefine ourselves through solutions instead of problems.
By deciding to define ourselves through solutions we open up a new horizon of options. A method I have employed is to write down my issues and my goals and keep them close by at all times. When fears and doubts start to enter my mind, I simply revisit my goals to regain focus.
The important thing to remember is that this is not just a one time thing that changes our lives over night. It is a life long change in our thought process that will make our lives much more enjoyable. This is a general overview of a process that can be adapted to everyone’s life.
There will always be challenges and obstacles in our lives. As we grow and learn how to handle them we become a more complete and well rounded individual

My intent is to help all like minded people out there who are, like me, searching for answers to the basic questions and needs in our lives. Many different reasons exist to make us ask ourselves “What am I doing and what is it all about”.
Self induced pressure exists from various factors such as relationships, current financial status, health and religious faith. This stems from the fact that deep down we all want to be, and to do the best we possibly can. At times we all feel a bit guilty because we may have not given our best shot in order to overcome the dilemma at hand.
I in no way proclaim to be an expert offering advice. Although I feel I have much to offer, it is my intent to open a dialogue that’s allows us to share personal situations and gain knowledge from another’s perspective. A way to analyze our issues from a different point of view.
So please share with us. Let us know what areas in your life need an answer. I would love to do whatever research it takes along with an open discussion to help with your pain.

Have you ever had “The Motivational Blues”…A term I use to describe that state of mind where you just don’t feel like doing anything. You question your very existence. They can hit at any time without warning. To rid one’s self of “TMB’s” is the subject of today’s blog.
Motivation comes to us in various forms. Everyone has a different trigger that works for them. I spoke earlier of talking to yourself which is a common approach. At times I have found myself staring at myself in the mirror and asking my self questions (here we are back to the talking to myself again). The key is finding an answer to those questions.
I also have the option I use daily of looking to a greater power to provide guidance. This is in no way meant to be a religious discussion but the fact remains that all religions have one thing in common. That being there is a power somewhere out there that will provide the answer. My personal choice is to believe and trust in God. But this is a personal choice that we all must make and I respect each individual for their choice. Freedom of religion is a basic right of mankind.
There are many ways that we can motivate ourselves. I would love to hear from everyone out there as to their methods. We can share the various methods and quite possibly help someone in the process.

Throughout my life I have always been one to listen to others intently. I have a genuine interest in others feelings and their perspective. I do this to the point of mentally placing myself in their “shoes” in order to experience their plight. All the while wondering and planning how I, would in fact handle the current situation.
There are various benefits to be gained while employing this method. It is a sign of friendship when one truly cares about another’s state of mind and well being. This is the beginning of a lifelong bond between two souls. Trust and understanding provide the basis for a real friendship.
Another plus is the knowledge gained from putting yourself in the various mental states. When a situation arises you can draw upon your memory banks to help you handle the current event.

OK I admit I talk to myself quite often. At times I may carry on a complete conversation with myself. To the point of feeling interrupted if anyone tries to speak to me during those times.
I have always found it a way to reason or debate with my inner self. A right vs. wrong struggle. Like I have a “good guy” sitting on one shoulder and a “bad guy” sitting on the opposing shoulder. Both tugging away at my conscious by trying to convince me that they are right. All the while knowing that right is in fact, right, but the bad guy seems to have the ability to build a compelling case at times.
So there we have the never ending battle. Our obvious goal can or should be to keep the “bad guy’s” wins to a minimum. But in most of our lives he has emerged victorious more times than we like to admit. For he is a formidable opponent. He seems to have a never ending source of energy with the debating skills of a Wall Street lawyer.
The difference between the two as I see it is this:
The Bad Guy: A form of instant gratification that soon gives way to guilt and regret.
The Good Guy: Long term gratification. A building block of character and Mind Peace.
So have you had a talk with yourself lately? How did it go?

Throughout my life, I have found music to be one of the best forms of therapy available. No matter what mood or state of mind you may be in, there is a song or group of songs that can enhance your mental state. The best songs are the ones that leave enough room for the listener to be able to adapt it to their own life. To be able to inject one’s self as the subject. Therefore living through the music. The chosen vehicle to find peace of mind.
As a young man I lived for the music. This was long before MP3’s or IPODS. I started in the days of vinyl. The LP era. I always had a wide variety of tastes as I had over one thousand LP’s. All of them in logical groups for their different styles.
I had certain types that I listened to intently while others were meant as background to provide a catalyst for thought. A way to solve the world’s problems. (Sometimes even my own). I recall sitting either alone or with friends for hours on end just listening to an album. After each one we would discuss the impact it had on each one of us. Usually turning into a debate on who was the best artist. All had valid reasons why “their pick” was in fact the best.
Hence my point that music is in fact very important to most of us. Thus providing a mental escape that, while maybe only temporary, is surely a welcomed break from the thought patterns that seem to consume us all at times.
Please take a moment and tell us how music has played a part in your life.
Looking forward to hearing from all.

The week end is finally here. Even for those not in the Monday through Friday 9 to 5 rat race, the weekend seems to be a less hectic time. Time to spend with friends and family. A time to reload for the events of the upcoming week. Also to look back and learn from the previous week.
A possible way to make one’s life better may be to keep track of the week’s events and how they unfolded then asking ourselves “how could I have handled this any better”. The answer may very well be that you did the right thing. We all hope for that answer as much as possible. But without this structured approach we all tend to lose track. This method also allows us to build a certain skill set to handle similar problems in the future.
This is another thing that will allow us to feel better about ourselves. Then hopefully what once seemed overwhelming is now just a minor issue that is easily dealt with. Thus allowing us more time to work on all of the things that will improve our quality of life.
Please feel free to share any experience you may have that you feel pertains to this issue.

Everyone should have a “safe place” within their own mind where they can go and escape. A place where we go to regroup or reboot our minds to avoid “overload”.
When I was young I would go fishing with my Dad and we would spend hours on the riverbank or in a small boat just thinking and trying to sort things out.
Times seemed so simple then. No pressure, no bills to pay, no deadlines to meet. Gazing into the water and dreaming of things to come. Great memories. Sometimes we even caught a fish.
But that didn’t really matter. It was about being in a safe place mentally and the feeling one gets when they are in that spot.
Do you have a “safe spot” where you can escape to. Let us know please.

OK it’s one of those days right. Work is going bad, the car is not running right, the kids are acting like they are insane and you feel like you head is just gonna explode. What do ya do ????
Well the best thing maybe is to take a few steps back to gain a different perspective on the issue. Break down the situation into manageable pieces. Divide and conquer is the proper term I believe. Looking at the issues in this light will make them seem much less of a threat.
This process will leave you with a sense of accomplishment, a very positive thought for all involved.
Give it a try. You have nothing to lose and you just may feel a little better about yourself in the process. Sounds like a “win/win” in my book.
